J'en ai enfin fini avec le lineart (avec l'aide diligent de Lexi, cf photo 2 ^^).
Cette semaine : la couleur. :)

La fille aux papillons

Petite mise en couleur du dimanche soir pour un croquis qui a quelques semaines fait pour le Squiggle Challenge de drawesome et inspiré par une couverture d'Au revoir là-haut aperçue entre les mains d'un lecteur dans le métro.

The horse are a three-lines doodle born of rewatching the Nazgûls be trampled by water horses... :D

The butterflies piece is quite lovely! And that continuous line for the two horses piece has a really cool effect, so much movement, and kinda reminds me of Alexander Calder wire sculptures.

Also, yay for participation in the diversity challenge over at drawesome! ^___^

Such great pieces! I LOVE the butterfly girl, she’s got an interesting face, and are they coming out of her head?! Clever use of the squiggle there.
The horses with only 3 lines are amazing, full of life, and deep blue and the black portrait are very striking. Also, the China Mieville illustration is excellent, very creepy, and I like the different colour studies for it.

And Lexi is very cute!

The horses were a flight of fancy, but I think I will try to do more drawing with continuous lines, it's a fun (and fast) exercise!

I hope the Mieville illustration turns out well, I have rarely attempted very elaborate works, so this is a bit out of my comfort zone! :)
Actually I think the butterfly girl is not a girl at all... or at least not a living one. ^^ Her face is hollow, like a mask. She is more like an automat of some kind... ;)

I'm on a LOTR kick! The movies' long versions are being release in for the first time in France, so we still need to rewatch the two towers and then we are going to see Return of the King in theater at the end of the month... :D
And after that I think I'll try to find a fan currated, one-movie version of the Hobbit. You know it has to exist out there. ^^

I love all of these, but the expression in the black ink portrait is very intense and stands out for me!
By the way, the horses immediatelz remnded me of the scene in Lord of the Rings, and then I read the comments andfound out they were inspired by it :-) Have fun watching the extended films, there are some cool scenes!

I'm enjoying myself a lot rewatching the extended versions, we are halfway through the Two Towers... but damn, 4h in a theater will be long! I should ask my boyfriend to cook lembas to get us through the evening... :D

In my mind it was a woman... but I can totally understand why you saw a young man! It is interesting actually, how we relly on defining featurs to tell genders apart! :)

Haha, quatre heurs, c ‘est rien! J’ai vu les films Fellowship, Two Towers et Return of the King dans le cinéma en 2003, c’était neuf heurs. J’étais là avec trois amis et nous avions beacoup de manger. *g* Bon courage avec le lembas ;-)
