Post recs for at least three fanworks that you did not create.
I try to post recs regularly on
fancake, and last month I did a recap of my 10+ favorite fics of the year (the rec itself and a few of the fics are in french, but most works are in english), so this time I will recommend fanworks I haven't reced before... (But no Yuletide fics, as I plan to do a rec post once I'm done with my still growing "to read" list! ^^)
Hannibal
With One Hand (and with the Other) (7095 words) by GoldenUsagi
An unexpected encounter between a victim and a murderer. A study of how Will is totally changed, yet exactly the same.
A fascinating encounter with Will, post-show. The choice of outsider point of view is very interesting and very well done. Excellent fic from an excellent writer.
Pi's Lullaby (62505 words)by t_pock
Will loses his daughter at the mall. Hannibal returns her to him.
A recently finished long-fic I enjoyed a lot as a WIP. T_pock managed the feat to write an Hannibal kid!fic that feels very true to all the characters. The kid is wonderfully written, and Hannibal's point of view is a gem.
Brooklyn Nine Nine
An Ever-Fixed Mark (4165 words) by KiaraSayre
Ray and Kevin renew their vows.
What can I say? Captain Holt is my favorite, and this fic is my favourite too. :D It feels like it could be from an episode of the show.
Star Wars: TLJ
Call and Response (1115 words) by Lisse
Rebellions are built on hope.
The perfect post-The Last Jedi fic. People answer the call. The spark lights a fire.
Transformers
And I Alone Have Escaped To Tell You (58,202 words) by astolat
“This is like some kinda bad dream,” Ironhide said aloud.
“No,” Cyclonus said, low and harsh. “But it will be.”
Astolat hardly need any more shout-out to find new readers, but this fic (or any of the followings in the same fandom really) could easily have been on my Fav fic list of the year and was put aside in favor of less well known writers. The thing is, before reading this fic I knew nothing of Transformers past the "giant robots turning into smaller... things ? vehicles?" part. I didn't even knew what were the Autobot or Decepticons.
Did it stop me from reading a 60k fic about all those things (and more)? You bet it didn't. And neither did it stop me from enjoying myself tremendously! :D
Astolat is one of the few writers I'd follow into whatever fandom she would write and never regret it, because she has a genius for pulling you into a flow of action and her plotting is great and she can make you feel feelings about giants over-competent robots loyalties you didn't care about 10 000 words ago. So... go read this fic is what I'm saying, I guess. I'm pretty sure you won't regret it.
