Yultide nominations

I have been reading
beatrice_otter 's Yuletide season primer, and it occured to me for the first time that maybe I could actually participate this year! I have been writting more in english, and with a good beta it could be totally doable.
I'm not sure if I will go for it, but just in case I nominated three small fandoms I could totally see myself writting for: Lastman (anime), Sweet/Vicious and Hunger Makes the Wolf, a wonderful SF duology with action, queer characters, witchiness and workers uniting to overthrow an evil mega-corporation... that actually has zero fic for it as far as I can tell.

Date: 2018-09-16 12:12 pm (UTC)I guess based on the anime, fix-it for Monica and/or Joufflu would certainly be a thing.
Richard would probably be the fandom's black dress and there would be at least a few Howard/Rizel dark angsty frieneny fics. ;D

Date: 2018-09-16 08:02 pm (UTC)If you seriously plan to participate, could you nominate Joufflu and Hashman? That would be great... and you would still have two slot left.
What would be your two other fandom? "small" is way larger than in french: any fandom with less than 1000 fics is fair game. ;)

Date: 2018-09-17 04:20 pm (UTC)and I guess one for Richard?welp nope I went with Rizel instead. We need a third person to nominate Richard, and... I don't know, the Holy Father, Gobniu, and/or whatever other Roitelet that tickles their fancy?Yoko Tsuno!! and, I guess, LastMan-la-BD if we still count them as separate fandoms? thus I could nominate Cristo, Elorna, Marianne and Adrian?
Uh. It looks like, yes, I'm seriously planning on participating, even though I still don't like the idea of writing specifically for someone else--I want to see prompts for these fandoms so, so much!!

Date: 2018-09-16 08:03 pm (UTC)I've been thinking about what to nominate myself. I'm not usually a really teensy fandom kind of person--I don't usually feel long-term fannish about a thing unless there's someone else's fannish energy for me to bounce off of, get over some critical mass...
I think Vorkosigan Saga might actually be too large this year, which is a shame. I'll probably do Girl Genius (which I love--I wonder, can I nominate the Jägers as a whole as a character? :P), Temeraire series (with my sadly rarepair OTP), but I'm not sure about the third. Terra Ignota is great but I think it would be hard to write fic of; I love the Fall of Ile-Rien series but Nicholas (the protagonist's father) is my favourite, I'd love to read father-daughter stuff but I'm not sure anyone would want to write it... Maybe Mulan? Further consideration is needed :P

Date: 2018-09-16 08:47 pm (UTC)Temeraire is still good though! It's totally a fandom I could have nominated. :) I don't remember if the subject was discussed... what is your rarepair OTP?
I don't know the other fandoms (though I heard of it a little bit).
Did you ever write for Yuletide, or would it be your first time?
Well, if you feel like good SF with plot, action and kickass ladies, I totally recommand Hunger Make the wolf, it's a great read, and not that long.

Date: 2018-09-16 09:40 pm (UTC)(My rarepair OTP is Laurence/Napoleon. If you haven't considered this pairing before, please feel free to consider it now, it is *right* up my alley and I kind of feel like it may be up yours as well :) )
I wrote last year! Chalion Saga; if you know the fandom, my recipient wanted, basically, shipfic for Caz/Betriz or Iselle/Bergon (though she'd have also been willing to go with a fic focused on Iselle&Betriz). And the details were... introspection and romance, that was pretty much it :P I ended up sticking Bergon and Betriz behind a cave-in and gave them the old "you have to talk to stay awake because head wounds" thing to give them an excuse to do the introspection thingy, and since they're also the characters of that quartet we see interact the least on page I figured it might be more interesting than just reading a retread of the story between people who were there the whole time. Seems to have gone over well enough, so I'm happy :)
I might at that! Maybe they'll have it at my local library--coukd definitely be worth checking out.

Date: 2018-09-17 09:11 pm (UTC)I have actualy read a few Laurence/Napoleon, Werwolvesarereal wrote a few if I'm not mistaken? I enjoyed them, but I can't say that I fell madly in love with the pairing.
I have read Chalion Saga a billion years ago and remember almost nothing except that I enjoyed it. I have toldmyself I should reread it, but I have so many other books to read for the first time, and I dont read that many books anymore, so I haven't gotten around to it yet. ^^
I would be surprised if a local library had it, it's a small publisher... But you can try!

Date: 2018-09-22 07:28 pm (UTC)Yeah, that's it. And ah, okay; I thought you might enjoy it because the competent, fairly benevolent tyrant/the honourable soldier reminds me of some of the dynamics astolat likes to write. But of course dynamics aren't everything :) I do love it, though. Especially with that end scene in canon, oh man.
I hear you about having a giant to-read list!
I was going today you might be surprised--I said local library, but really I was thinking of the Grande Bibliothèque, which is, like, the Montreal branch of the Bibliothèque et Archives nationales du Québec; it's got a lot of stuff. Doesn't seem to have this one, though, unfortunately, so I suppose you were right. (I realized while thinking about this that I have no idea what the English name for the library is, or if it even has one. The...Great Library, maybe? I guess?)
