Snowflake 4 & 5 - Whishlist & Ressource
Jan. 5th, 2018 10:18 pm1) Basic but always immensely appreciated: comments (not even 100% positive as long as they are constructive! ;) ) on my fanfics or my art.
2) A beta reader for my few fics in english (an American gods short-fic and two star Wars fusion: one with Hannibal, the other with les Mis.). I am sure I have room for improvement!
3) Fics (or recs) for the following fandoms:
- Hunter X Hunter: anything well written really, I love fics that manage to make clever use of the Nen. Gen is very welcome of course, and pairing-wise I especially like Gon/Kirua, Kurapika/Leorio and Isoka/anyone... and as the fandom is pretty dead I haven't seen many fics based on the current arcs, or the most recent worldbuiding... Trans!Kurapika is always welcome.
- Sweet/vicious: anything goes as well, but what I would really really love is a Jules/Ophelia fic with a satisfying end for the Harris romance (I strongly feel that a long term relationship between him and Jules is unsustainable given all the lying... and the murder) and a sensitive examination of all the issues left. I also love all the secondary characters!
- DCU: Batman/Superman. Bonus if there is kryptonite involved
Recommend a fannish or creative resource.

Date: 2018-01-05 10:55 pm (UTC)What are you looking for: just grammar, character voices, something else? I can do grammar on either no problem--I promise you that my English grammar is significantly better than my French. If you want character voices, though, it'll have to just be the Hannibal one; I definitely don't have enough of a grasp on Les Mis characters to provide that kind of feedback. (...Ironically, the last fic I wrote but one was a dialogue-only Hannibal fic where they discuss grammar. Clearly it's fate.)

Date: 2018-01-05 11:23 pm (UTC)Honestly, just grammar would be perfect (unless of course you find something especially jarring in the character voices of course, then I welcome feedback as well... but both Star Wars fics were written a bit as a lark and an experiment, so even if the voices aren't quite right I don't think they would be worth a deep rework.)
Grammar is really my weak point, even sometimes in French...^^
I actually consider myself a pretty decent writer, but writing in english is so different, I can't be sure of myself and of my wording the way I am when I write in french... And it's even worst when translating something I first wrote in french, like the American Gods story, who has a complex and almost poetical language... translating that was a bit of a nightmare and I had to simplify or split some sentences... And I'm not sure if the result is always good.^^ It is quite frustrating and difficult to get past that without feedback telling me what works and what doesn't... So thank you ! <3 <3
Ho, you wrote a Hannibal fic! I will have to check it out! :D

Date: 2018-01-06 01:41 am (UTC)Oh man, yeah, translating stuff like that can be really hard. (And whenever I do something like that I'm usually trying to translate into my native tongue, not out of it, which I imagine makes the whole thing even harder.) Anything where the sound of the language matters, or the rhythm--anything in short even faintly poetic--it's hard.
And, thanks! I hope you enjoy it! (Ah--I'm not quite sure if this is insulting to offer, I apologize if so, but if there's anything you have trouble with, I'd be glad to explain it?)
